It's a whole different world down here in Southwest Virginia! Moving to the small town of Glade Spring all the way from Joliet, Illinois was a huge and much needed change for him and his son in 2003. Dylan fell in love with the area and the mountains before he even drove into town. In 2007 he started his first garden. At the end of the season he was told "well, you succeeded in growing weeds" haha.  Taking the next few years to learn and try new things, Dylan definitely had his fair share of wins and losses. He takes full responsibility for things that he had control over (good and bad) and has learned to just figure out how to deal with the things that he doesn't. You live and learn as you go right? Being a single dad, he really wanted to start farming full time so that he had more time with his son. Turning the small garden of weeds into a glorified garden, Dylan started selling at the farmers market and quickly became the market manager, because of his all in personality. He also got a job at a health food store here in Glade Spring. But, as it sometimes goes, life happened and everything changed.  Dylan left the store, quit his position as the market manager and stopped selling at the farmers market all together. Fast forward to 2016, still growing vegetables, learning and trying new things and selling the produce, from the glorified garden, on the road in front of his house when he wasn't at work seemed to work out pretty well. And then, as it sometimes goes (haha) life happened again. In January 2017 a long lost friend got in touch with Dylan and everything has been a whirlwind of ups and downs ever since. A fairy tale romance that has fast tracked our lives 10 fold and they've never been happier. Denita and her daughter moved here in September of 2017 and their instant family (just add water) was started! One day after cleaning up the porch, of old produce that had sat there unsold for too long and was destined for the compost pile, Denita asked Dylan "so, what are you doing with this?" Puzzled, he asked what she meant and she said "with the farm? I mean, your "glorified garden" what are we doing with this?" Laughing her off at first but then really thinking on the question he thought maybe he should be looking at things a little differently. Maybe Creative Seeds Farm should be a business and not just something to enjoy doing on the side. Changing his thought process and motivation for the farm (yes, it's even called the farm now) has really put a whole new perspective on things. There are systems and plans in place and having a good partnership makes them feel like they can do anything.

This family of 4 has a lot to be thankful for.
